Jack Wilenchik, an attorney with Wilenchik and Bartness working with the Goldwater Institute on the case, said both the public benefit to be gained from the sale and the “grossly disproportionate” price paid for the land versus its appraised value violate the gift clause of the state’s constitution….
“It’s absurd for the city to say they’re doing this for the poor and say 83 grand is poor,” Wilenchik said. “I’d be hard-pressed to find someone who would say someone who makes 83 grand is low-income.”
